Shelton council approves consent agenda and committee assignments; city announces housing infrastructure grant

The Shelton City Council approved routine items and heard staff updates at its Feb. 3 meeting.
The council approved the consent agenda by voice vote. Later the council adopted an updated list of council board and committee assignments; staff noted committees should determine whether bylaws allow alternates and councils should discuss alternates with the committees they represent.
In the city manager report, staff said the city was awarded a Connecting Housing Infrastructure Program grant that Shelton Youth Connect applied for on the city's behalf to extend a water main at 127 S. 2nd. The extension will provide the capacity needed for a housing project on that property by increasing domestic and fire-flow capacity. The manager said the grant agreement will come forward for execution in the near term and that with additional funding Shelton Youth Connect would be able to continue construction this year.
The manager also reported on a capital request for the Mountain View Reservoir and ongoing discussions with WSDOT on intersection improvements at Wallace and Olympic Highway North. The council was reminded of a study session on Feb. 10 and the next regular council meeting on Feb. 17.
