Kentucky House meets in Frankfort, approves journal and introduces more than a dozen bills

During recognition, the representative from Kenton (District 64) moved to withdraw House Bill 177. "I'd like to make a motion to withdraw a bill, House Bill 177. I am the primary sponsor, and I have filed the proper paperwork to do so," the representative said; the motion was handled on the floor and recorded as withdrawn per the chamber's procedure.

Later filings included House Bill 288 (a proposed amendment to Section 32 of the Kentucky Constitution regarding terms of General Assembly members, Representative Banta), bills on students and county law libraries, election-related measures, special-purpose governmental entities, vehicle wheel regulations, delinquent tax liens, tenant screening, psychotropic drugs, peace officers, and appropriations measures for the Transportation Cabinet and general government operations (Representative Stevenson). The clerk also filed House Resolution 19 recognizing January 2026 as Kentucky Mentorship Month and House Resolution 21 adjourning the House in memory of the victims of UPS Airlines Flight 2976 (Representative Wellner).
After completing introductions and brief remarks — including a birthday acknowledgement from the representative from Davis (District 7) to a member from Christian (District 9) — the gentleman from McCracken moved that the House stand adjourned. The Speaker announced there was no objection and adjourned the House until 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2026.
