Amy Cook and Daniel McClellan of Soil & Water told the board the county’s agricultural growth‑zone application was approved for $413,477 to fund conservation easements and farmland preservation; the board had previously earmarked $606,000 from a deferred‑tax back fund as a county match. Cooperative Extension presented a Canon Foundation bridging grant of $11,250 to sustain 4‑H after‑school programming through the grant cycle; staff said they will return with any further budget amendments if larger grants arrive.
Extension staff also asked to adopt a poultry equipment rental program that would loan existing equipment to residents, with training and a liability waiver. Staff described proposed training, walk‑throughs and forms and said safeguards would be in place; commissioners placed the proposal on the consent agenda.
Suzanne Moose and Charles (Consolidated Human Services) asked permission to apply for an FTA 5310 grant to serve elderly and disabled riders (capital typically requires an 80/20 match and operating 50/50). Staff said matches are budgeted and they would return for budget amendments if the grant is awarded.
