Grant County APC approves formation of five-member executive committee in rules update

The Grant County Area Planning Commission on Feb. 2 approved creating an executive committee of five members as part of upcoming rules-and-procedures changes. The motion was moved and seconded and passed on a roll-call vote.
The chair said a subcommittee (including commissioners Pollan, Soltis and the chair) will draft the proposed rules and present them at the next meeting. Commissioners discussed the scope of powers for an executive committee, noting state guidance that an executive committee typically handles limited items (for example, granting short continuances or dealing with urgent scheduling) and that the full board should affirm any powers beyond those limited tasks. Under the motion, the subcommittee will return a draft specifying committee membership, election process and defined duties.
Next steps: The rules-and-procedures subcommittee will draft language clarifying the executive committee’s composition and authorities and return to the full APC for adoption.
