Madeline Montoya, representing the Boys & Girls Club, described the event as the club’s twelfth annual fundraiser and said proceeds go to renovations, sponsorships for children who cannot afford fees, supplies and program support. One member of the public, Robert Paul of 1327 Scofield Street, spoke and said he had no strong objections to the event given it is not on city property; he also praised the applicant being present at the hearing.
Council asked logistical questions including event start time (Montoya said 6:30 p.m., concluding about 9 p.m.) to avoid conflicts with another public meeting. With no objections, the council voted to approve the license by motion and voice vote.
What's next: the Boys & Girls Club may proceed with its fundraiser under the special-sale license on Dec. 12; council staff confirmed the event time and that the applicant will coordinate any required notices.
