Council awarded several procurement contracts at the Jan. 19 meeting to address infrastructure maintenance.
For the community center roof replacement, administration said FY2026 included $35,000 for the project; the recommended contract award to SAS Services was for $15,225 with expenses charged to the parks and recreation fund. Council discussed shingle versus metal roofing (metal has longer life but higher cost) and noted a 30-year warranty on the shingle product; the motion to award the contract passed by voice vote.
Council also awarded the 2026 aggregate-material supply contract to JDAG Trucking, which submitted the lowest bid. Staff said JDAG has not previously worked for the city but assured administration of its ability to meet contract terms and delivery needs. The council approved the award and the unit prices were recorded in the bid motion.
Finally, the council approved awarding the 2026 overband crack sealing contract (preventative maintenance) to Scadler Construction for the budgeted $30,000. Staff noted the typical cycle for crack sealing and said the per-mile cost was favorable; the motion passed by voice vote.
All three awards were approved by voice vote; contract documents and expense-charging instructions were to be finalized by city administration.
