Melanie Oliva (590 NE 121st Street) said yellow‑crowned night‑herons have returned to nests in the remaining Australian pines and requested that scheduled tree filling be delayed until after migration, noting the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Dore (alternatively spelled Dory in the second email) Zeeman urged the village to wait until after nesting season and criticized previous tree-removal timelines.
Village Manager Al Childress said staff had already notified North Miami and that the project was placed on hold during the nesting season. Commissioners thanked the county for the grant and discussed outreach to residents about the delay. The manager also reported a separate $25,505 grant from the Florida Forest Service and an $85,600 closeout grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for a vulnerability-assessment project.
