Council approves two settlements tied to city vehicle accidents

Jeremy Thompson of the city attorney's office presented the recommendations: $155,000 to settle the suit titled Mayor v. City of Austin (stemming from a November 2024 crash involving an Austin Police Department vehicle) and $172,000 to settle Timothy Jones, individually and as next friend of Bradley Jones, a minor, v. City of Austin (a July 2024 crash involving an Austin Energy vehicle). In each case the plaintiffs would release all city claims and dismiss the district court actions as part of the settlements.
The council heard the presentation, had no questions for legal counsel, and approved the related consent agenda that included these settlement items.
