Council proclaims Esquina Tango Day, praises East Austin cultural hub

The proclamation credited Esquina Tango with offering free and low-cost instruction, supporting local musicians and artists, and collaborating with nonprofits to serve underserved populations including seniors, people with Parkinson’s disease, youth and members of the LGBTQ+ community. A representative for Esquina Tango thanked the council and noted December 11 coincides with International Tango Day.
No policy action or funding changes were announced; the recognition was ceremonial. Council members and Esquina Tango representatives took photos following the proclamation and encouraged continued community programming.
