DOT: ADA ramp and sidewalk projects already selected; council requests district list

Councilmember Perris Gray asked at the Budget & Appropriations Committee whether residents could still submit requests for sidewalk repairs or ADA ramp reconstructions funded through ARPA.
Josh Wilson, a project manager with the Department of Transportation, told the committee that the DOT had already selected locations for both ADA ramps and sidewalks based on criteria in the Complete Streets manual, which prioritizes immediate safety concerns and then considers service requests and community input. "For the way the DOT selects the locations for both ADA ramps and for sidewalks, it's based on a criteria that's outlined in the Complete Streets manual," Wilson said.
Wilson acknowledged community input is part of the selection metrics but said the current project lists are already established. Councilmember Gray requested a comprehensive list and a district breakdown so council members can share project details with constituents in areas with chronic issues; Wilson said he would obtain those lists from DOT partners and provide them to the council.
Kearney had earlier noted contract delays and a protest on one DOT contract but said notices to proceed have been issued and work is expected to proceed toward the stated completion dates. Gray raised completion dates cited in the briefing (which he read as June 26 and Dec. 20, 2025); DOT agreed to follow up with district-level schedules when the council requests them.
The DOT commit-to-follow-up closes the exchange; councilmembers asked staff to obtain the detailed lists to aid constituent communications.
