FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Senate convened on Jan. 6, 2026, completed roll call, approved the journal and read a series of new bills and resolutions, then adjourned to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8.
The clerk read dozens of newly filed measures on the Senate floor. The bills identified in the session record include: Senate Bill 36, "an act relating to parentage fraud" (sponsor: Senator Douglas); SB 37, a bill designating a state dog breed (sponsor: Senator Webb); SB 38, relating to reimbursements for pharmacist services (sponsor: Senator Richardson); SB 39, concerning fishing in privately owned lakes and ponds (sponsor: Senator Boswell); SB 40, relating to public library district boards of trustees (sponsor: Senator Boswell); SB 41, relating to the levy of an ad valorem tax rate (sponsor: Senator Boswell); SB 42, relating to missing persons (sponsor: Senator Deneen); SB 43, relating to energy planning (sponsor: Senator Carroll); SB 44, an appropriation for the Kentucky Fire Commission with an emergency declaration (sponsor: Senator Deneen); SB 45, relating to agritourism (sponsor: Senator Webb); SB 46, relating to school transportation with an emergency clause (sponsor: Senator Deneen); SB 47, relating to end-of-line-of-duty death benefits (sponsor: Senator Deneen); SB 48, relating to mandatory reentry supervision (sponsor: Senator Storm); and SB 49, relating to battery stewardship (sponsor: Senator Elkins). The clerk also listed Senate resolutions (including memorial adjournments) and a Senate joint resolution 23.

Procedural items moved quickly. A senator identified in the record as the senator from Taylor moved to approve the journal from Jan. 6, 2026; the journal was approved "without objection."
