Kentucky Senate hears committee reports, refers bills to committees and receives multiple bill introductions

During its Jan. 14 session the Kentucky Senate received multiple committee reports and new introductions and recorded a string of cosponsorship requests.
The clerk read the committee reports and referrals from the Committee on Committees and several standing committees. The Health and Service Committee reported Senate Bill 38 and Senate Concurrent Resolution 9 should pass; Natural Resources and Energy reported Senate Bills 29 and 49; State and Local Government reported Senate Bills 10 and 51; and Transportation reported Senate Bills 7, 28 and 30. The clerk announced those bills and resolutions would be considered as having received their first reading and would be placed on the calendar.
The clerk also read new introductions: Senate Bill 87, "an act relating to the provision of financial services and products by credit unions," sponsored by Senator Elkins, and Senate Bill 88, "an act relating to protection from extreme weather conditions," sponsored by Senator Chambers Armstrong. Several resolutions were introduced to recognize Holocaust Remembrance Day and designate mentorship and burn awareness observances.
Members used the motions and announcements period to file cosponsorship requests for a range of bills and to inform colleagues about committee schedules; the clerk recorded permissions and the presiding officer reminded members of committee meeting times. The Senate recessed for rules committee meetings and later reconvened to continue routine business.
No final passage votes on the listed bills were recorded during this session; the committee reports place the bills on the calendar for subsequent committee consideration and floor action.
