Capital Building Advisory Committee approves $10,120 for columns and rotunda painting

The Capital Building Advisory Committee voted unanimously to spend $10,120 from its CBAC account to patch and paint the Ground Floor columns, repaint the third-floor rotunda and replace the Presidential Gallery with an anniversary display of legislators’ photographs and short bios.

The motion was offered by Representative Clifford, who said, “I move that we take $10,120 from the CBAC account and paint the walls,” and was seconded by Miss Oliveto. Committee members recorded their votes by roll call; the chair announced the motion passed unanimously among members present.

Committee materials presented during the meeting described the work as a mix of patching and painting to preserve finishes in heavily visited areas of the Capitol and to create a temporary “anniversary celebration” exhibit in place of the Presidential Gallery. The expenditure will be charged to the CBAC account within the legislative cash fund; the motion did not specify a vendor or construction timetable.
