New St. Croix County government center finished under budget, officials say

Project funding included an April 2022 bond sale and the reported project cost was $79,400,000; staff said the project came in under budget by about $150,000 though they cautioned that number may change slightly during final accounting. Officials described added infrastructure such as a secondary chiller, a 2-megawatt generator and upgrades to electrical and gas services, and thanked contractors and county departments for the coordination of many moves and phases.
Supervisors praised the design and operational efficiencies observed by residents, and asked whether ARPA money was used for mechanicals; staff said some ARPA reallocation covered mechanical costs but that reallocation was an internal transfer and the overall project figure remains the same. Excess funds will remain in the county capital improvement fund (KIPP) for future projects.
