The Wyandotte County Landmarks Commission voted to approve meeting minutes from Jan. 5, 2026 and elected Jim Schrader as its chairman and Mickey Welcome Hill as vice chairman for 2026.
The commission opened the meeting with a roll call and a motion to accept the Jan. 5 minutes. Commissioner Linda Garber moved to approve the minutes; Commissioner Mickey Welcome Hill seconded, and the motion carried with no recorded opposition.
Nominations followed for commission leadership. Commissioner Hutton moved that Jim Schrader serve as chairman for 2026; the motion was seconded and passed. Schrader accepted the position, saying, “I will accept the chairmanship for 2026.” Later, Hutton nominated Mickey Welcome Hill as vice chairman, Linda Garber seconded the nomination, and the commission approved the selection. Welcome Hill thanked members and said he appreciated the confidence.
The meeting closed after staff reports and brief announcements. The commission indicated it would reconvene next month, tentatively on March 2.
The votes and motions recorded in the meeting minutes are procedural actions of the Landmarks Commission and do not by themselves change ordinances or city code.
