Machesney Park committee backs 20-year boundary agreement with Roscoe

The Administration Finance Committee of Machesney Park voted Aug. 18 to send Resolution 52 R25 to the Village Board with a positive recommendation. The resolution approves a jurisdictional boundary line agreement between Machesney Park and the Village of Roscoe that staff said is intended to support orderly development and infrastructure planning.

Izzy, a village staff member, told the committee the village is “revisiting the boundary line agreement with Roscoe.” She said the committee and board approved an updated agreement last year but that delays in Roscoe’s approvals required the village to bring an updated resolution now. “The agreement will be in place for 20 years,” Izzy said, and she described the alignment as generally running east–west along Swanson Road from Belvidere Road to Gleason Road. She told members the draft agreement was not in their packets but had been placed on the dais.

According to the staff report, the agreement is intended to reduce competition between developers and property owners and to ensure infrastructure and facilities are planned and sized appropriately. Committee members asked no follow-up questions after the presentation. The committee voted in favor with no recorded opposition and referred Resolution 52 R25 to the Village Board’s meeting on Sept. 2 with a positive recommendation.

No public comments were made on the item during the meeting. The committee took no other substantive actions on the agreement at this session; the full board will decide whether to adopt the resolution and execute the agreement.
