Council awards construction bids, confirms county sign contract and approves other routine items

At its Feb. 2 meeting, the Tahlequah City Council approved several procurement awards and an intergovernmental contract as part of routine municipal business.
City Administrator Taylor Tannehill presented a formal contract with the Cherokee County sign office to document an existing practice of the county producing street signs for the city at cost; the council authorized the mayor to sign the agreement. Tannehill said the agreement was prompted by a county audit recommendation to formalize the arrangement.
Special Projects staff recommended awarding the concrete drilling and bases for downtown light poles (Project 2026-1) to H and H Construction as the lowest and most responsible bidder at $85,000 with a 21-day completion target; council approved the award. For concrete flat work at Cherokee Fields (Project 2026-2), staff recommended Platinum Construction as the low bidder at $24,500 with a 10-day completion schedule; council approved that award as well.
Parks and Recreation requested a half-day Saturday closure of Riverlands Golf Course for an employee-only tournament, with the course to reopen by noon and members to be notified in advance; council approved the closure.
Council approved these items by voice and roll call without recorded opposition during the meeting. Staff said references and bidder checks had been reviewed for the awarded contracts.
