County approves DEP right-of-entry agreements for mine reclamation at Summit Park and West Fork River

The Harrison County Commission approved two temporary right-of-entry agreements requested by the West Virginia DEP and the county’s consultant Kleinfodder to remediate abandoned mine land issues on county-owned parcels.
Kleinfodder’s engineer told commissioners the work would include opening sections to allow drainage, placing materials and stabilizing embankments at Summit Park’s ballfield complex and performing remediation along the West Fork River near Chincotin. The engineer and staff said no conveyance of land was involved; the agreements provide access for remediation and require the contractor to restore the site upon completion.
Commissioners requested copies of work plans and "as-constructed" documentation for county records. The motion to approve the right-of-entry agreements and authorize the appropriate signatures carried.
