Martini, who said she has lived in McHenry County for about 12 years, told the committee she was drawn to the ethics commission because it ‘‘engenders trust’’ and emphasizes ‘‘transparency and neutrality.’’ She said she has time to serve when the commission meets, which is typically only when complaints are filed.
Committee members asked about Martini’s experience and availability; she said she has not previously served on local boards but had researched county rules and would take required training. The chair clarified that this committee’s vote is a recommendation; the full board makes the formal appointment at a later meeting.
A motion to recommend Martini for the ethics-commission seat (term to expire 02/01/2028, per the committee’s motion) was made and seconded, and a roll call recorded affirmative votes from the five members present. The committee also approved the minutes from Jan. 13 and the routine consent agenda earlier in the meeting.
If the county board endorses the committee’s recommendation, the appointment will be formalized at the next county-board meeting.
