Board accepts $25,000 donation from TLC Plumbing for RioTech program

The Rio Rancho Public Schools Board of Education on Dec. 8 approved acceptance of a $25,000 grant from TLC Plumbing for RioTech, the district's career-technical program.
RioTech Principal Christopher Johnson said the grant will be placed in a designated RioTech account and used for tool supplies and lab manipulatives, student boots and coveralls, and promotional materials to support recruitment and program standards. Johnson said he is coordinating with the chief operations officer and legal counsel to ensure procurement and use of funds comply with district rules.
Superintendent Dr. Cleveland and board members thanked TLC Plumbing for continued support of career-technical education. A motion to accept the grant was made by Board member Tyler, seconded by Jeff Morgan, and the board voted to approve the donation.
