Superintendent Dr. Bisuke Cleveland framed the award as narrowly targeted by statute, saying the funds are usable for “school security improvements, career-technical education facilities, or for maintenance or repair of public school buildings for the year 2026 and beyond.” Board member Jessica Tyler moved to accept the funds; the motion passed by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
Board members thanked staff and urged that a formal thank-you be sent to local legislators who helped secure the funding. The district will proceed with project planning and provide detailed cost breakdowns to lawmakers and program administrators as required.
The board did not announce specific contractors or construction timelines during the meeting. Next procedural steps include finalizing project scopes and submitting any required paperwork to the Public School Capital Outlay Oversight (PSCO) processes tied to the appropriation.
