Sahuarita students seek town support for national parade trip

Ludwig said the volunteer‑run boosters manage an annual budget of about $50,000 but that transporting roughly 90 students and equipment will cost almost $200,000. She described fundraising efforts, distributed brochures and asked residents to contribute. Two students who joined Ludwig described the educational value of visiting museums and performing on a national stage.
Vice Mayor and councilmembers urged residents to donate and noted available state tax‑credit mechanisms mentioned during the meeting. The council and staff offered brief logistical suggestions for local fundraising and publicized a donation QR code circulated at the meeting.
The band’s organizers said they will continue local fundraising and outreach; no formal town expenditure was proposed during the meeting.
