During the same study-session meeting the Mahomet-Seymour CUSD 3 board approved a motion to move into closed session to discuss several categories of confidential matters.
Speaker 3 (chair or presiding officer) made the motion to convene closed session for "the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, individual student matters, and bargaining." The motion received a second and the board conducted a roll-call confirmation in open session. Several board members verbally registered "yes" during that roll call; the chair stated the board did not anticipate any business after closed session.
The board completed the recorded roll call and proceeded to closed session; no further public action on personnel or bargaining was completed in the open meeting. The board signaled that it would reconvene only if necessary after closed session.
