Council and city staff used the Nov. 17 meeting to introduce new hires across several departments and to recognize internal promotions.
Chief Espinosa introduced a group of new police employees who each gave their name, hometown and reason for joining the department — examples included Derek Albano (Rio Rancho, N.M.), Scott Kellenberger Jr. (Goodyear), Brennan Zier (Goodyear) and others who said they chose Avondale for career growth and community ties. Fire Chief Rooney introduced two promotions: Tim (promoted to engineer with 14 years of service) and Travis (promoted to captain with 12 years of service); both were congratulated by the council.
HR Director Andy introduced Debbie Pierce, the city’s new senior human resources analyst (hired Oct. 27) with more than 14 years of public-sector experience. Parks and Recreation introduced park-maintenance worker Adam Pride and recreation programmer Cameron Townsend. Public Works introduced Andrew Duran (management analyst) and showed video introductions of additional public-works staff. Council and staff encouraged photos and offered thanks for service and commitment to the community.
