In response to questions from commissioners, staff said the portal is intended to improve transparency and timeliness by enabling applicants and staff to see the same list of outstanding items and to prevent emailed comments from being overlooked. Staff advised that broader alignment of all permitting processes across city and county could be examined later but is not part of the initial portal scope.
City staff told the board they "anticipate it in February" and that the portal should help applicants and staff avoid confusion about the status of development reviews.
No formal policy or ordinance was adopted during the meeting; staff said they would continue refinements and coordinate the launch with affected departments.
