Green Bay Road IDOT letting comes in under estimate; Campanella low bidder

Public works staff told the Village Board on Jan. 26 that the Illinois Department of Transportation letting for the Green Bay Road reconstruction produced a low bid just over $3,000,000.
“the bid came in at a little over $3,000,000 which is actually good news,” said Jeff, the staff member who briefed the board, and he identified Campanella Construction as the low bidder. Staff said the bid was slightly below consultant estimates and that IDOT and the contractor will exchange contracts in the coming weeks. Construction is expected to start in April; the contractor has an April–November window and staff said exact start timing will depend on the contractor’s schedule.
Jeff said the village’s share of costs would be roughly $750,000 and the grant award currently documented is $2,840,000; some items (such as certain water-main work) may not be eligible for grant participation, and per‑unit prices had not been released at the meeting. Staff also said they have discussed traffic and access with school superintendents to reduce impacts on school buses.
Trustees thanked staff for the update and asked about scheduling and neighborhood impacts; staff said signage and resident notification would follow and that reconstruction coordination remains ongoing.
No formal contract award or additional funding authorization was recorded at the meeting; staff said contract paperwork with IDOT will follow the letting and more detailed cost breakdowns will be available as the DOT and contractor finalize unit prices.
