Deerfield approves purchase of a plug-in hybrid inspector vehicle using green fund and carryover right-of-way money

The Village of Deerfield Board approved a resolution to purchase a Ford Escape plug-in hybrid as a replacement inspector vehicle at the Dec. 2 meeting. Justin said the current 2016 inspector vehicle has roughly 50,000 "hard miles" and multiple collisions and that the hybrid's first 35–40 miles operate in electric mode, matching typical daily inspector mileage.
Staff proposed using green-energy fund money and a remaining balance from a previously approved Metro right-of-way planting contract (about $52,000 original; $40,385 proposed applied to this purchase). Justin said the vehicle would be available on the lot pending approval and that the old vehicle would be auctioned to offset cost (trade-in estimate $4,000; auction expected to yield more). With trade-in or auction proceeds applied, staff estimated a net cost in the mid-$30,000 range.
Trustees moved, seconded and adopted the resolution by roll-call vote.
