Senate adopts two memorial resolutions, posts bills to rules and reports committee referrals

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Aside from debate on Senate Bill 7, the Kentucky Senate used its Jan. 16 session to refer bills to committees, adopt ceremonial resolutions and update the rules calendar.
Committee referrals and rules posting: The committee on committees reported referrals including Senate Bill 76 to Appropriations and Revenues, Senate Bill 12 and Senate Joint Resolution 23 to Health Services, and Senate Bill 20 to State and Local Government. The rules committee posted multiple bills (including SB 10, SB 28, SB 29, SB 38, SB 49 and SB 51) to the regular orders for Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.
Resolutions adopted: The chamber adopted Senate Resolution 43, adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Granville Reed Jr., and Senate Resolution 18, adjournment in honor of Carolyn Greenwell Hayden and Joseph Jaudy Albert Hayden. Both measures were moved and adopted without recorded opposition in the transcript.
Scheduling and adjournment: Senators were reminded the body will not convene on Monday in observance of the federal Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and will reconvene Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 4 p.m. The Senate adjourned at the close of the day.
