Arceli Morales was appointed to the Victorville Planning Commission by unanimous vote at the Feb. 3 City Council meeting after a short question-and-answer period.
Mayor Becerra presented Morales as the mayor’s nominee and council members asked about her professional experience and community involvement. Morales described her work at Applied Communications, a low-voltage systems integrator that serves residential and commercial clients, and noted leadership roles in local Rotary and Chamber of Commerce efforts. “I’ve lived here my whole life,” Morales told the council, adding she participates in multiple nonprofit boards and emphasized a hands-on approach: “I’m more of a doer, not a talker.”
Council members praised Morales’ local roots and community service; several noted her business background would bring useful perspective to planning decisions. The council voted unanimously to appoint Morales to the currently vacant seat; the clerk recorded all “Yes” votes.
What’s next: staff noted one additional planning-commission vacancy may arise soon and will follow the council’s usual appointment procedures. Morales will serve on the commission per the term established by municipal appointment rules and will be seated following any required administrative processing.
