The conservationist said Meteor Timber had a letter of intent to sell an original 680-acre block but sold 160 acres of that parcel; since then, additional acres have been sold. "We had a letter of intent to sell for Meteor Timber, and, somewhere there was some miscommunication, and they sold a 160 of the original 680," the conservationist said, adding that the DNR had ordered a secondary appraisal late last week and county appraisals will need updating as the available acreage changes.
Staff told the board they will contact the DNR to clarify next steps and to obtain updated appraisal data. The board received an attached update from the Central Wisconsin Winshed Partnership and had no immediate action to take; this was an informational briefing and not a formal vote.
Board members asked clarifying questions about project-status reporting and a typographical correction in a separate water program report (Kiefer's report, where the season should read 2026). No votes or binding directions about acreage acquisition were made at the meeting.
