University of Wisconsin Extension updates Adams County on staffing, regional educator posting and childcare systems mapping

Pat Wagner of the University of Wisconsin Extension briefed the Adams County board on staffing and program work. Wagner said the Extension has made an offer for a full-time support staff position pending reference checks and is coordinating with the county administrator on relocation strategies for Extension and ADRC office space.
Wagner said a regional crops educator position has been posted and will serve Adams, Waushara, Green Lake and Portage counties, mirroring an existing regional livestock educator. Wagner also described a partnership with University of Wisconsin–Madison staff and county departments to conduct a systems-mapping exercise aimed at identifying ways to support establishment and operation of child-care facilities in Adams County.
"Child care is 1 of the issues that Adams County continues to work on," Wagner said, describing collaboration with county departments and outside agencies to improve access to child-care facilities. Wagner also noted an in-person youth swine program on April 11 and other educator-led offerings that have drawn participants statewide.
Board members asked whether ongoing projects should be included in the project-status report or in educator reports; Wagner and other staff said department heads may determine what to include. Wagner praised specific staff reports as thorough and offered to answer questions from the board.
