An unnamed reader presented the proclamation and described it as recognizing ‘‘the heritage and achievements of African culture’’ and asking citizens to ‘‘use this commemoration of American history to celebrate the contributions made from African heritage and culture.’’ Presenters Beau Coker and Bo Boceeman (Community Cares Coalition) described local activities: a free living wax museum at the Live Oak library on Feb. 20 from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. and an April 25 art-wall reveal at Wayside Park.
Chair moved the proclamation for approval; Commissioner Mobley made the motion and Commissioner Hale seconded. The board voted 4–0 to adopt the proclamation and took a group photo with presenters. Commissioners encouraged public attendance at the library event and noted youth participation opportunities.
