Residents press council on housing affordability, tenant conditions and Yanez Road widening during public comment

Laurel Lamont, a tenant at Warehouse at Creekside, thanked city inspectors and named staff who responded to a dryer‑venting complaint she said persisted for years and accused property management of failing tenants and installing faulty windows. She asked the council to improve guidance to residents on how to raise municipal complaints and requested continued inspections and follow‑up with the tenant community.
Susan Whitten, president of the Temecula Valley Rose Society, thanked the city for grant support and noted erosion control and conservation work at Rose Haven Heritage Garden; she also commended the police report. Anne Pulsipher of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints invited council to a first‑responders appreciation breakfast on Sept. 13.
Dr. Eric McKilliken (self‑identified physician and Temecula resident) urged removal of the proposed Yanez‑Di Portola widening from the general plan, citing safety concerns tied to 67 driveways with direct access to the corridor, trailer turning constraints and past crashes that damaged a residential fence. Staff later clarified the sidewalk project on the west side of Yanez in item 9 was completed and did not involve the segment Dr. McKilliken referenced.
Council thanked commenters, and city staff confirmed follow‑up actions including inspections at the Warehouse at Creekside location and clarification about which Yanez projects are active.
