Committee extends temporary accounting contract and OKs $30,000 GEMT cost-reporting agreement

At its Feb. 2 meeting the Waukegan Finance & Purchasing Committee unanimously approved two administrative actions: a three-week extension of a temporary professional services agreement with Robert Half to provide accounting support, and an agreement with Public Consulting Group LLC (PCG) to provide cost-reporting services tied to the GEMT program.
On the Robert Half extension, staff said no additional funds are being requested and that funding will come from previously approved contract authority and unused overtime/holiday costs. Alderman Florian moved the extension; Alderman Felix seconded and the motion carried on a unanimous roll call.
The committee also authorized a $30,000 agreement with PCG to provide cost reporting necessary to remain compliant with the GEMT program. On the record, a presenter said, "The GEMT program brings an estimated $44,300,000 to the city of Waukegan per year." Alderman Felix moved the resolution; Alderman Martinez seconded and the resolution passed unanimously by roll call.
Both items were presented as operational or compliance actions rather than new program spending. The approvals allow staff to continue payroll/accounting continuity and to retain a consultant to prepare cost reports tied to ambulance/transport reimbursement under the GEMT program.
