Box Elder Police CID honored after multi‑state trafficking investigation that identified six victims

Box Elder City Council on Oct. 7 recognized members of the Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division for a months‑long trafficking investigation that identified six young female victims and led to an arrest on multiple charges.
Chief Connell described the investigation of case 22‑850, which began after officers responded to a person sleeping behind a building and evolved into a trafficking probe. "Through the 6 month long investigation, investigator [Bridal] was able to develop a suspect," the chief said, and cooperative CID work led to the rescue of four young women who were returned to their families. The chief said the suspect was arrested on a slate of charges including trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, and racketeering; the chief reported the defendant received a 24‑year confinement sentence.
Investigative Sergeant Josh Campbell was called forward and thanked for his CID supervision. Investigator Peterson was cited to receive a chief's commendation but was not present. Investigator Mike Cristal received a meritorious service medal for his investigative work, which the chief said helped uncover additional victims in other states. The department also received recognition from the Midwest Organized Crime Information Center (MOSEC) for outstanding cooperation and performance in law enforcement following the work presented at a September conference.
Councilmembers thanked the officers and commended the department's efforts. The mayor and council moved on to other agenda items after presenting the awards.
