Neighbors urge Planning Commission to deny private‑club permit for Post Oak Street venue

Casey Stelzer, a Post Oak Street resident, told the Planning Commission the venue across from her home is already operating “like a full blown live music spot multiple nights a week” and urged commissioners to deny a private‑club permit that she said would extend hours, events and alcohol service.

“This isn't background music on a patio. It's concert level volume that makes it hard to sleep, work, or just relax in the home we pay to live in,” Stelzer said, adding that late‑night activity spills into the street with headlights and loud conversations. She also recalled prior air‑quality problems she attributed to the Terry Black's organization a decade earlier and said neighbors felt the burden of expansion fell on residents.

Stelzer spoke while staff listed public speakers for items 8 and 9, noting the applicant (Richard Suttle) and several opponents were signed up to testify. Staff earlier indicated items 8 and 9 are offered for neighborhood postponement to January 13.

The testimony did not result in an immediate vote on the permit; the commission approved the overall consent agenda later in the meeting, which included multiple postponements. The commission has not yet taken final action on the private‑club permit and the item remains scheduled for additional neighborhood review in January.

Next steps: items 8 and 9 were described on the record as offered for neighborhood postponement to January 13; the Planning Commission will take up the items again on that schedule or as otherwise noticed.
