Box Elder council OKs $178,667 playground purchase and awards mobile-home cleanup contract

At its June 17 meeting, the Box Elder City Council approved two expenditure items intended to improve public parks and address dilapidated property.
Public Works Director Bruce Martin presented a purchase approval request for playground equipment for Creekside Park and Wachee Park. The city plans to purchase equipment from Cunningham Recreation under a state contract for $178,667.04, using funding allocated from BID District 1. The council approved the purchase unanimously and authorized the mayor to sign associated documents.
Separately, the council approved a professional services agreement with Lehi Incorporated for demolition and cleanup of dilapidated mobile-home park properties (former Centennial Mobile Home Estates and an old trailer park on Douglas Road). The agreement, not to exceed $65,108, will allow city crews to follow contractor work for final cleanup and establish liens on the properties for cost recovery.
Both approvals were presented as part of the consent and new-business items and passed by roll call.
