The Box Elder City Council approved several procurement actions on March 4, awarding a small events contract and authorizing building modifications at the public works administration building.
Economic and Community Development Director Sean Overrinder presented a contract with Black Hills Selfie Snaps for three city events this year — the Box Elder Ball, Monster Mash and Winter Wonderland — and recommended approval based on prior positive experience with the vendor. Council approved the agreement and authorized the mayor to sign the associated documents.
City Engineer Scott Lang solicited and presented quotes for an engineering office remodel to add a dividing wall and a 16-by-18 patio fence. Sea Eagle (Sea Eagle Construction) submitted a lower quote at approximately $11,300 for the wall and roughly $3,360–$3,654 for the fence; Allstar’s quote was notably higher and a third vendor (TNT) did not submit a quote after visiting the site. Lang said the project stays within the department’s budget. Council accepted the lower quote and authorized the mayor to sign the contract documents.
These approvals are administrative procurement actions; the record shows staff confirmed budget availability and that the vendors have prior experience or site familiarity. The council vote on both items was recorded as unanimous.
