The court accepted a bid from Miracle (listed as Miracle of Kentucky/Tennessee) for replacement playground surfacing at Leah's Homes Park. The quote totaled $130,340; the county holds a grant for about $86,000 and will cover the remaining local share (approximately 25 percent). The clerk recommended accepting the vendor; Judge Smith moved to approve the bid and Magistrate Madison Sutton seconded the motion. The court approved the motion by voice vote.
For the senior citizen building, the court considered two HVAC proposals. BWA Aiken submitted a bid of $49,007.69 with a one-year labor warranty and five-year compressor coverage; Hometown Heating and Cooling offered a lower total but presented different warranty terms. The court instructed staff (Pete and Tom were referenced) to advise on technical suitability; Magistrate Fowler moved to award the contract to BW Aiken, the motion was seconded by Magistrate Sutton, and the motion passed.
The county also awarded the fuel contract to Max Arnold & Sons after reviewing rival pricing from Midwest Terminal. Max Arnold quoted a 19¢ per gallon differential across listed grades; Midwest Terminal quoted 20¢ per gallon and offered ancillary supplies (engine oil, drums). The court noted Max Arnold currently services county tanks and approved the award by voice vote.
Other procurement actions included awards for rock and culvert materials (bidders included Holt/Holsons and Procon Supply), acceptance of Oxmoor Toyota’s coroner vehicle bid after a competing bid failed to meet specifications, and approval of surplus mower sales. Motions to approve these items were made and carried by the court.
