Jennings County School board ratifies teachers' contract in unanimous vote

The Jennings County School Corporation board voted unanimously to ratify the teachers' contract at a brief public meeting. Speaker 2 told the board the contract’s details had been read at the prior hearing and posted online for public review, and said the board had received no additional questions or comments.

The lack of public input prompted Speaker 2 to ask the board to move forward with approval. "So at this time, we are ready to move forward and ask for approval of the ratification of the teacher's contract," Speaker 2 said.

Speaker 1 called for a motion. A motion to ratify was made ("So moved") and identified by the chair as moved by Kurt and seconded by Travis. After a brief call for discussion and none being offered, Speaker 1 called the vote and announced a tally of 6-0. "Contract passes," Speaker 1 said.

Following the ratification, Speaker 1 asked for a motion to adjourn the public meeting. The motion to adjourn was moved by Pat and seconded by Mary Lynn. The board voted 6-0 to adjourn, and Speaker 1 closed the meeting with "Meeting adjourned."
