Selectboard directs signs, ordinance work after Stack Drive safety complaints and concerns about residential facility

At its Oct. 14 meeting the Bow Selectboard moved to address parking and pedestrian safety on Stack Drive after residents described repeated street parking that creates a dangerous corner.
Resident Andrew Grillo detailed repeated curbside parking near 14 Stack Drive that funnels traffic and threatens pedestrians and children. The board discussed erecting no‑parking signs (suggested 150 feet each direction) and asked DPW to place signage and for the town attorney and staff to prepare an ordinance amendment. The motion to direct staff to update the ordinance and have DPW install signage was moved, seconded and approved.
During follow‑up public comment, resident Jen Saint Cyr said a facility run by Benchmark (referenced by staff as working with the state’s Health and Human Services) may house multiple residents and already generates several vehicles in the driveway; she expressed concern about how parking will be managed as more residents move in. Town staff (David) said he has established contact with Benchmark and state DHHS regional staff and will arrange dialogue with local police and fire to coordinate responses and parking management.
What happens next: DPW will be asked to install signage; town counsel will prepare ordinance language for review at the next meeting; staff will continue communication with Benchmark and DHHS on parking and operational expectations.
