Select Board accepts $4,407 Merrimack Conservation Partnership grant for Ferry Road conservation area

The Select Board accepted a $4,407 Merrimack Conservation Partnership grant to help cover transaction costs for the town’s planned purchase of 10.3 acres on the Merrimack River (Ferry Road conservation area) that will become permanently conserved land.
Sandy Crystal, chair of the Conservation Commission, told the Select Board that the commission has been working to acquire a 10.3-acre parcel on the Merrimack River with roughly 1,500 linear feet of river frontage and that the town will use land-use-change-tax funds for the purchase.
Crystal said the commission secured a $4,407 grant from the Merrimack Conservation Partnership specifically to offset transaction costs associated with protecting the Ferry Road parcel. Following her presentation a Select Board member made a motion to accept the grant; the board seconded the motion and approved it by voice vote.
"We were able to get $4,407 from the Merrimack Conservation Partnership, toward the transaction costs," Crystal said. The acceptance allows conservation funding to be applied to the closing and related expenses; the board confirmed no additional town appropriation is required to accept the grant.
The board wished Crystal success at the concurrent master-plan meeting and moved on to the next agenda item.
