Williamson County approves five routine resolutions, including $26,000 for DUI recovery court and armored rescue vehicle authorization

Williamson County officials unanimously approved five routine resolutions during a meeting that included budget adjustments, equipment transfers and grant authorizations.

Speaker 1 opened the meeting and presented Resolution 2-26-5 "accepting donations on behalf of the Williams County General Sessions DUI Recovery Court and appropriating and amending the 2025-26 Williamson County General Sessions Court budget by $26,000," saying revenues will come from donations. The motion and second were recorded and the measure passed by unanimous voice vote.

The action funds the county General Sessions DUI Recovery Court with $26,000 in donated revenue. The board authorized Resolution 2-26-21 allowing the county to acquire a rescue/tactical armored vehicle for public-purpose use. Speaker 2 said the procurement updates prior language because the county will acquire a different model than originally planned and described timing constraints: "Due to the time frame of the grant and the the process of making the vehicle, we did not fit the time line to get this grant... we've changed it to a Teradyne, which has 6 months to production time." He said most of the cost is covered by Homeland Security grant funds and that the local difference would be "probably about 25,000." Questions were raised about armor level and whether the county would match equipment owned by neighboring Franklin; the item passed unanimously.

Finally, the board approved Resolution 2-26-23 authorizing the county merit agency to contract with the Tennessee Department of Transportation to apply for the routine trash-collection grant for fiscal year 25-26. Speakers described this as the same grant the county applies for annually; the application authority was approved without further discussion.
