Wentworth Council delays choosing delegate to regional planning council

The Wentworth Town Council on Feb. 3 voted to table consideration of appointing a delegate to the regional planning council until its April meeting. Council members said the position is voluntary and most meetings are held midday, which makes it hard for potential delegates to attend.
Council members discussed the role and logistics. Yvonne said the council’s previous delegate, Dennis, had served until his term expired and reiterated that participation is volunteer-based: "It's I believe it's a volunteer a volunteer situation because, they explained that well, their organization's made up of volunteers." Council members noted meetings are usually in Kernersville around lunchtime, and said that could limit who can serve.
Unidentified Speaker 1 moved to table the appointment and said the council would revisit the item at the April meeting. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The council did not identify an alternate candidate at the meeting and left the item open for future consideration. The next Wentworth Town Council meeting is scheduled for March 3, 2026 at 7 p.m. at Wentworth Town Hall.
