Northglenn to Build Odell Berry Park with More Than $6 Million in Funding

Mayor Meredith Lighty announced the future Odell Berry Park at the site on Monday, saying the city has secured "more than $6,000,000" from local and state partners and expects construction to begin this fall with completion anticipated in 2027.

Lighty said the city purchased the land from the Berry family in 2016 and engaged residents to shape the park’s design. "Odell Berry Park is the kind of project that truly reflects who we are as a community," she said, adding the site will include nature play areas, outdoor fitness equipment, spaces for teens and tweens, accessible trails, native landscaping and a butterfly sculpture by artist Patricia Vater.

The announcement named funding partners that the mayor said have contributed to making the project possible: Adams County Open Space, the Land and Water Conservation Fund, the Community Development Block Grant Program, Great Outdoors Colorado and the Northglenn Community Foundation. "We've secured more than $6,000,000 to make this park a reality," Lighty said.

Lighty framed the park as part of a larger access goal for the city: ensuring every resident lives within a 10-minute walk of a park. She noted that nearly 6,000 neighbors already live near the site and said more residents are joining the community each year. The mayor invited residents to the grand opening, anticipated in 2027.

The mayor did not provide a calendar year for the phrase "this fall" used to describe the construction start; the timeline in her remarks states only that construction is expected to begin "this fall" with completion anticipated in 2027.
