Summary
Hamilton Elementary presented data used to win a Model Schools award, citing 2023–24 gains — including 83% of students meeting growth goals — curriculum changes and family engagement initiatives; staff also described SEL progress and programs supporting students.
Hamilton Elementary staff presented a condensed version of their Model Schools conference presentation to the board on Oct. 13, describing data, instructional changes and community supports that led to national recognition.
A Hamilton presenter said the school was one of 12 elementary schools nationally selected for the award and walked the board through MAP math and reading trends that showed a post‑COVID dip and recovery efforts. “Eighty‑three percent of the students at Hamilton that year met their growth goal, which the national average is 50%,” the presenter said, noting that the district’s new math curriculum and MTSS supports contributed to the gains.
Presenters highlighted counseling program accreditation (ASCA model program / RAM status), Panorama SEL survey results (80th–99th percentile in several domains during the submitted year), expanded family engagement practices and a roster of before‑ and after‑school activities. Hamilton staff also noted a school fundraiser: a recent fun run raised more than $20,000, the largest since the facility opened.
Board members asked about sharing best practices across the district. Hamilton staff said principals regularly collaborate and that the school is open to modeling practices elsewhere.
Next steps: Hamilton staff and district leaders will continue classroom walkthroughs, MTSS implementation and peer collaboration; no formal board action was required.
