Lincoln Irving expansion moves to bid with $33.8M all‑in estimate, district told

Leggett Architects delivered the board’s final pre‑bid update on Oct. 13 for the Lincoln Irving school expansion, presenting design finishes, classroom and support layouts, and a project cost estimate.
Zach of Leggett Architects said the project is in the construction‑document phase and will proceed to bidding next week, with bids due in mid‑November. “We’re right around, 33,800,000.0 full cost all in,” Zach said, and he identified construction costs at about $27,000,000, an $800,000 bidding contingency and a roughly $1.5 million construction contingency.
Design elements reviewed included a gymnasium that doubles as a storm shelter, a cafeteria sized for about 150 students with full kitchen service, classroom additions for early grades and consolidated special‑education spaces. The presentation showed interior wayfinding, a color palette with earth tones on the first floor and blues on the second, and built‑in learning nooks around a central “tree” feature.
Project schedule discussed in the presentation anticipates construction administration following bidding, a hoped‑for construction start in March, and an opening target for the renovated/expanded building by Aug. 22. The design team also outlined upcoming stakeholder activities on graphics and mural selection, and the naming process for the school.
Next steps: staff will proceed with bidding as scheduled and return to the board for contract approval after bid review.
