Alamosa council approves two intergovernmental agreements for outdoor programs and a cultural trail

On Jan. 21 the Alamosa City Council unanimously approved two separate intergovernmental agreements aimed at outdoor programming and local multimodal infrastructure.
On second reading, the council adopted ordinance 1-2026, approving an IGA between the City of Alamosa and partner governmental entities in the San Luis Valley Generation Wild Coalition to implement a Generation Wild program funded through the Great Outdoors Colorado trust fund. A city staff presenter summarized the program as "around $2,000,000 over 5 years to get kids and families outside," and said the IGA clarifies partner roles and accountability. No public comments were received during the hearing.
Later in the meeting, council approved ordinance 2-2026, an amendment to an intergovernmental agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation to accept $178,566 in MMOF (Multimodal Mobility Opportunity Fund) money for the Hunt Avenue Cultural Trail. City staff said the funds will advance design and construction work for that trail project. Both motions were moved, seconded and recorded as carried unanimously by Miss Martinez.
Both ordinances were considered at second reading with public hearings; no members of the public spoke at either hearing. The city will proceed with the terms of the IGAs as authorized by the ordinances.
