The Lincoln Way Community High School District 210 Board of Education unanimously adopted the fiscal year 2025 budget at its Sept. 19 meeting, following a brief public budget hearing and an administrative overview of revisions to the tentative budget.
Finance lead Mike told the board the tentative budget’s operating surplus increased from roughly $520,000 to $570,490 while the fund‑balance percentage remained unchanged. He said the update reflected refined salary and benefit estimates, updated state CPPRT revenue allocations, an electricity‑billing adjustment and the reallocation of interest income into the operations and maintenance fund to offset the electricity adjustment. “I believe in being very detailed, very transparent,” Mike said during the hearing.
During the meeting the board also approved invoices totaling $4,958,196.38 covering the period Aug. 9 through Sept. 19, 2024; trustees asked about conference dues and athletic entry fees and were told the items reflect league/conference charges. The treasurer presented July–August cash‑balance and investment details (including a cited $3.2 million T‑bill maturing in December at 4.66%) and the board approved the treasurer’s report and the student‑activity report.
Other approved items included the consent agenda (F1–F6), second‑reading policy updates and an updated organizational chart and contingency succession plan, the District 210 advisory meeting calendar for 2024–25, and a memorandum of understanding attached to the district’s current bargaining agreement that provides four school‑improvement days for this year. All votes recorded at the meeting were announced as unanimous.
The board closed the public budget hearing and immediately moved to adopt the FY2025 budget resolution as presented. No member requested additional changes during the meeting; the administration said it would continue to refine multi‑year financial forecasts as CPI and investment rates evolve.
What’s next: The board adjourned into closed session to discuss student‑related matters; no action was announced as pending following that closed session notice.
