RSU 06 superintendent announces intent to resign; board unanimously hires MSMA and forms search committee

The board considered and adopted a technical amendment to Resolution 21 that removed a reference to a specific funding account (the language on line 29), with the stated rationale that the fund no longer exists and removing it would allow the search to proceed without delay. The board then suspended its rules to permit a second reading at the same meeting and voted to adopt Resolution 21 as amended.
All votes on the MSMA authorization, the amendment to Resolution 21, the suspension of rules, and the final adoption were recorded as unanimous: 11 members voting in the affirmative. The adopted resolution establishes a search committee that will conduct the initial screening and community engagement and authorizes the chair to enter into a contract with MSMA to assist in the superintendent search process.
The board noted the superintendent search committee is scheduled to meet (the clerk listed a meeting for the superintendent search committee on 02/09/2026) and that further steps in the search process will be managed by that committee.
What happens next: the newly authorized search committee will begin work under the terms set by the board and MSMA; the chair is authorized to finalize a contract with MSMA and the board will receive updates and decisions at future meetings.
